This is a mystery that has plagued me for a long time.

Combo PDA/cell phones (such as the Treo) have become so popular that they are edging out standalone PDAs. What I want to know is what does the user do if they need to access their PDA while they are talking on the phone? First, is it even possible (assuming you want to put the phone down or have a Bluetooth headset)? I don't trust that such devices multitask that well. Second would you want to have to put your phone down (what if you are recording information someone is saying?), or use earbuds (you gonna schelpp them around everywhere?), or use Bluetooth (not quite as bad, but that's assuming you want to go around looking like a cyborg all the time, and you're still carrying a second piece of hardware). So do people who use these phones just not need to use the PDA when they are on the phone, or are happy with one of these solutions, or do you have another solution? I just don't see why I'd want one of these things.

On a BlackBerry? Asbsolutely! On most versions, in particular the lastest models, on the 8100, 8300 and 8800, just click the Menu button, scroll to "switch application" and you can use any feature on the device while still talking on the phone.

If you're watching for some thing that's a mixture of each, you're watching for both a PDA-mobile or a Blackberry. PDA telephones (such because the Palm Treo line-up) in my view have a little bit further capabilities over blackberrys readily given that that they have got the contact reveal and are competent to run a much broader style of techniques, as good as are competent to produce other instruments set up into them as good to upgrade connectivity. Blackberrys do have a exceptional deal of industrial attraction to them, regardless that, and are average inside nearly all of company workplaces, and also are especially dependable from what I've heard. They're additionally Canadian made for probably the most facet, if if you want to make any change to you. As for what a well plan might be, seeing that humans who use PDA telephones and Blackberrys have a tendency to acquire plenty of e mail to their instruments, and in addition investigate via plenty of internet web sites on their instruments as good, it might be well to get a rather huge information plan to your gadget, as good as a fair voice plan considering you'll nonetheless be utilising it as a mobile. Now to factor out some thing, I do have a PDA mobile (an HP iPaq h6325), and whilst a few humans will say that the battery lifestyles of those instruments isn't as well, I have to beg to range. My battery on my HP lasts as lengthy if no longer virtually longer than the battery lifetime of a number of the telephones I've had over time, and that was once with use as an MP3 participant, phone mobile, wi-fi e mail receiver, amusement gadget... virtually all whilst. So it rather does rely at the gadget you're watching at. Hope that is helping you out. Almost forgot (thanks to the answerers who had been above me) there could also be the alternative of the phone. These are instruments that experience both the Symbian working approach or the Windows Mobile working approach set up on them. The change among those and a PDA mobile is that those are within the frame of an genuine phone mobile, and ordinarily additionally do not need a contact reveal interface on them. Any typing is finished with the mobile's numeric keypad. There are PDA telephones regardless that, which I do discover somewhat of a larger alternative considering the fact that they do have the contact displays and traditionally behave a lot more like a PDA with the capability of a mobile as an further bonus. And I'll even be speedy to factor out that whilst older smartphones and PDA telephones wouldn't have any top-pace choices as of but, a number of the more moderen ones (published inside the beyond 12 months or so) are supplying both EDGE science (in the event that they use a GSM service) or 1x-EVDO science (if they're utilising a CDMA service).

I don't own a smartphone but can a smartphone play full video on 480x320? I don't see most smartphones nowadays with resolutions as high as the newer standalone pdas such as the Palm TX. I'm just like you. But I don't mind using two devices because I know I can depend on them. I'm a heavy pda user and a cell phone user, if I did my work on a smartphone, it can't keep up with my needs. If smartphones did get bigger screens than our standalone PDAs, smartphones would have to be physically larger, who would want that in our pockets? considering that they are already bulky looking already. More processing demand for smartphones? unless some new tech comes out, a faster processor means more battery drain. Oops, can't call you cause my battery is out.
