How to "Specify GPS hardware". I checked the Mio manual, it says it may have to wait for 10 mins in the initial set up inorder to locate the destination, but I've been waiting for 30 mins. I think I have configure the wrong GPS hardware. I did try several hardware, but still fail. Pls help

do you have a wired or bluetooth setup ? that is to say, the sattalite receiver.. is it wired to the mio, or is it wireless (bluetooth) if it wired, go into tom tom, then CHANGE PREFERANCES, then SHOW GPS STATUS, then CONFIGURE, if it a bluetooth, select OTHER BLUETOOTH GPS. then if it a wired receiver, select OTHER NMEA GPS - That should get you going...

i am using tom tom 5 on my typhoon 3500 and mitac 338.

the typhoon has built in antenna but i get 2 problems on starting it, first, no valid gps device, i need to go into the settings each time.

second no valid gps signal as you are also finding.

now, if using inside the house it will be difficult for it to find a signal.

i bought an external antenna and it finds signals no problem now...although the first set up took a while, maybe 10-15 minutes.

try it away from buildings that can block the signal, once they lock on the first time there is usually no further problems.

you need to have an external GPS (bluetooth reciever) and you will need to go into the GPS settings on TomTom select other bluettoth GPS reciever and then pair it to your PDA.
