Make mp4 file sizes smaller?

Question

I have several seasons of shows, anime titles, and movies I'd like to put on my Ipod.

I know the initial question sounds like I might be wanting to convert to different resolutions, but what I'm really asking is if I can reduce the size of each file to fit more videos on an Ipod.

Atleast 100 episodes of a 640x480 roughly 25 minute show + atleast 20 movies really adds up.

Hypothetically, if one...say movie, is half a gb,
-anyway I can keep the same audio and video quality but make it even a little smaller (maybe even just to .45 gb would help, anything)

well what ipod do you have? for me i have classic and i say set it as 425x240 for most of my anime. is good and if you really wants to make it smaller chop off the opening and ending after all this with good converter you should get file around 50mb per each episode. so lets say a 2 hour movie will most likely to be around 300mb, but for movie you might want to set it to that 640x480 (it have a chance that the size be double if movie if from blue-ray)

most of the time i use Prism video converter with mostly original setting only thing i change is the encoding. i set it as ipod with average bite rate of 320 and maximum bite rate of 512

other one i use is AVS video converter (for low frame to keeping its quality and for mkv). i have setting of 6.7 quantizer single pass, motion search 6, VHQ 1, and the 425x240 setting with file type of mp4 iso v.1.

for me the quality barely changed and the size is awesome. the 80G ipod i have like 1000 ep in it XD
