I'm thinking of buying a new phone and considering a blackberry but I have no idea how it would benefit me. I know it's very good for emailing which I don't need. What other things it can do?

Basically, I need a phone to call, sms and surf. If i can conveniently blog with it and go on msn messenger, that would be even better. I need a browser that can fully support surfing of any webpages. No troubles with any javascript or form submitting contents.

The BlackBerry is the phone for you according to what you just said. Here's some good stuff about it:

Facebook App - lets you take pictures and upload them to your mobile uploads seemlessly (you don't even have to open the App)

MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, etc. - there's a blackberry app for all of them. and if not, there's meebo. it runs int he background so it's always on unlike the iphone.

BlackBerry Messenger - instant message to any other blackberry, send photos and voicenotes, all part of the internet package.

Surf the web with either the BlackBerry browser or install Opera Mini, which is a great way to surf the web (not as great as the iPhone, but it's good enough).

Calling quality is great. SMS is just as great as any other phone. MMS, e-mail, and everything works seemlessly.

I say get one. Don't get a pearl though. You'll hate the keyboard forever.

Blackberry's are PDA phones. They have all the capabilities you said you'd need. Very reliable and popular with advanced users of cell phones.

If you've never had a PDA phone, you may experience a slight learning curve while getting used to the phone, but you'll be more than satisfied eventually.

The primary use of a Blackberry is for phone and email. That is what it was designed for. If you don't need the email part then look into other phones.
